Our Technology
The emergence of resistant bacteria poses a significant threat to humanity. Without proper antibiotic development, it is projected that by 2050, 10 million people per year will be affected by antimicrobial resistance (AMR) problems.
Bacteria can gain resistance through various mechanisms, briefly illustrated in the diagram below. As bacteria develop resistance to current antibiotics, it is more critical than ever to come up with new chemical entity that elicit new mode of actions.
A&J Science has developed efficient platform technology to exploit marine natural products. These agents are very selective to pathogenic bacteria by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis through a new mode of action. We have leveraged our technology to optimize activity and properties, tailoring them specifically for each indication.
Through this endeavor, we have four distinct pipelines of which we could efficiently investigate them parallelly.
